Apple is hosting its annual iPhone launch event on September 12, and the whole world will be watching. An "APPLE Special Event" is set for later TODAY at 10a (PDT) which is expected to announce several new iPHONE models.

ALL ACCESS will have coverage as it happens. The iPhone has redefined the concept of smartphones and has projected Apple as a manufacturer of high-end devices.

Knowing Apple, you might have to pay extra to own a wireless charger so why not settle for a cheaper alternative that pretty much delivers the same functionality?

First and foremost, it looks like Apple will be naming the three iPhones being launched today as iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus.

Bell Pottinger goes into administration amid South Africa scandal

Boris Schlossberg, managing director of foreign exchange management at BK Asset Management, told CNBC that a disappointing product could result in serious problems not just for Apple but for the markets more broadly.

As Apple and Qualcomm continue their global patent licensing dispute, Qualcomm has released a suite of research revealing that its Android partners have alway been the first to the marketplace with new smartphone features.

Apple analyst Gene Munster, now with Loup Ventures, believes between 30% and 40% of Apple's customers would be willing to pay the $1,000 or more to buy the new iPhone.

But even a huge boom in one product will not move the company's financials like the iPhone, which accounted for 63% of Apple's US$215 billion in sales a year ago. They can try to undercut the iPhone X, ridicule it or simply ignore it and accept its inevitable prevalence, settling for a still-profitable silver medal, bronze, and so forth.

UN Security Council adopts new sanctions against North Korea
North Korea's government blasted the sanctions and claimed the US would "suffer the greatest pain ever" for supporting them. The U.S. has said it wants the Security Council to take up tougher sanctions on North Korea at a meeting on September 11.

Analyst Gene Munster of Loup Ventures expected "the biggest step forward in iPhone technology that we've seen since the original device launched 10 years ago".

Samsung last month unveiled a new model of its Galaxy Note as it seeks to move past the debacle over exploding batteries in the previous generation of the device, and mount a renewed challenge to Apple's flagship devices. With no surprises, all eyes will be on their latest iPhone.

While Apple has been tight-lipped about what we can expect, it's likely that the event will include some major news for gadget heads. Apple's digital assistant will now support more apps and have access across most of the phone's functions.
