Myanmar violence is a classic example of Ethnic Cleansing

The Bangladeshi parliament passed a resolution yesterday urging the worldwide community to mount pressure on Myanmar to resolve the crisis.

Supreme Leader of Iran Ayatollah Ali Khamenei on Tuesday called Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi a "cruel woman" over a lack of inaction against violence against the ethnic Rohingya Muslims in the country, Iranian media reported.

Mohammed Shahriar Alam, a junior minister for foreign affairs, wrote on Facebook that Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina offered the additional site near the existing camp of Kutupalong "to build temporary shelters for the Rohingya newcomers".

"We have received multiple reports and satellite imagery of security forces and local militia burning Rohingya villages, and consistent accounts of extrajudicial killings, including shooting fleeing civilians", Mr Zeid said.

Last month, Rohingya militants attacked several security posts, killing a dozen police.

Communal tensions appeared to be rising yesterday, after two weeks of violence in Rakhine that have triggered an exodus of about 300,000 Rohingya, prompting the government to tighten security at Buddhist pagodas.

The White House condemned on Monday an upsurge in violence in Myanmar that has sent 3,00,000 Rohingya Muslims fleeing to neighbouring Bangladesh, saying it was concerned by violence on both sides.

The de facto leader of Myanmar, Aung San Suu Kyi, is facing mounting worldwide criticism, with The White House urging her to "respect the rule of law" and step up all efforts to end the widespread displacement of civilians.

"This is anger! We are expressing our anger against the Burmese government who is doing genocide against our people", Nurul Islam, president of Arakan Rohingya National Organization (ARNO), told Turkey's Anadolu news agency.

Ruling Awami League general secretary and senior Bangladesh minister Obaidul Quader today said, "The entire world is today anxious with the Rohingya issue and India also expressed its concern.their (India s) concern and stance beside us is very crucial at this moment".

"Myanmar has created the problem and they will have to solve it", she said, adding: "We want peaceful relations with our neighbours".
