Miami Beach Residents Allowed To Return Tuesday Morning

The Miami area thankfully has Hurricane Irma in its rearview, as winds have finally started to settle across the tri-county region.

There's good news for the almost 100-thousand Miami Beach residents who evacuated before Hurricane Irma and are now itching to get home. "We have crews all over the city clearing the roads".

There are several unsafe areas of town that have downed power lines and debris that need to be removed, according to city officials.

"I beg and plead for everyone's patience, we want everybody to come back but we want you to come back in a safe mode", he continued.

At 03:00 GMT, the centre of the hurricane was about 50 miles (80km) south-east of the city of Tampa . The next major city to expect the hurricane is Naples, Florida , another popular vacation spot.

Late Monday night the city posted on Twitter that they are ready for their return.

"We are thankful that the flooding Miami Beach had was minimal", Levine said.

Residents will be the first to be let in Miami Beach at noon Tuesday, followed by business owners, their employees and contractors. They asked anyone who parked in a city garage to protect their auto to please move it.

Facebook Tests 'Instant Videos' For Reducing Data Usage
Videos that have been cached are marked with a "lightning" icon, letting users know that they can be viewed without wasting data. Instant Videos are no doubt part of Facebook's grand scheme to become a video-first social network, but it won't be easy.
