PM calls for evolving mechanism for providing drugs to poor at affordable prices

The prime minister said Pakistan had done more than its part in fight against terrorism. The prime minister said much more was happening from other side of the border and vehemently rejected the perception that attacks took place from Pakistan's territory, terming such allegations "completely incorrect".

Pakistan has reaffirmed its resolve to stay engaged with the United States to help fight terrorism in neighboring Afghanistan but it reminded America that "war on terror" can not be won excluding or confronting Islamabad.

USA officials and independent analysts have long accused Pakistan of turning a blind eye to militants battling US forces in Afghanistan, even as it cracks down on other militant groups that target its own citizens.

Abbasi says Pakistan is willing to take a number of steps over the matter, so long as the United States also takes reciprocal steps in Afghanistan, meant to limit cross-border attacks on both sides.

Humanitarian crisis in Myanmar and HK-ASEAN trade relations
The UN Security Council will meet on Wednesday behind closed doors for the second time since the latest crisis erupted. Aung San Suu Kyi has fully embraced the recommendations, and has begun creating these mechanisms for implementation.

"If you go to Miramshah, you'll see what we've done there, the casualties that the army has taken, the sanctuaries they've destroyed", Abbasi said.

Trump called on Pakistan to eliminate militant sanctuaries in a speech laying out a new strategy to try and win the 16-year-old war in Afghanistan.

The Trump administration by maintaining threatening posture towards Islamabad is only helping Pakistan to balance its ties with Washington and tilt bit more towards Beijing and Moscow which are obviously more friendly and trustworthy and in the process achieve somewhat elusive self-reliance which is the dire need of the hour, to say the least. "The ills of Afghanistan do not emanate from Pakistan", said the prime minister.

To another question, the prime minister opined that democratic system in the country was being strengthened with the passage of time. There was no difference in the policy of Pakistani and Chinese governments, he added. "Pakistan is a large market and the US companies are getting opportunities of billions of dollars here", said Abbasi.

Fewer South Georgia residents without power Wednesday morning
Tuesday show 68,870 outages in a region that includes Middle Georgia and extends west to Columbus. Within a 12 hour period the number of customers without power dipped from 870,000 to 574,359.

Prime Minister Abbasi said Pakistan and the United States have a very valuable relationship since the beginning of the diplomatic ties.

The prime minister did not foresee to go to the International Monetary Fund and hoped that the government would achieve its economic targets with prudent economic policies. He said the government would address the economic challenges and its intention was to proceed with its own growth rate. "We are broadening our tax net base and have a composite plan to provide incentives to the tax filers", he said. He said the USA had not clarified some of the perceptions raised in President Donald Trump's policy statement on Afghanistan and South Asia. Pak-U.S. relations are based on cooperation and collaboration rather than aid based or assistance based relationship. "We can no longer be silent about Pakistan's safe havens for terrorist organizations, the Taliban, and other groups that pose a threat to the region and beyond", he said.

About Pakistan-India tension at the Line of Control, he said Pakistan had always welcomed efforts to have a peaceful relationship and wanted to resolve it peacefully through dialogue.

Pakistan also claims to have lost more than $120 billion in terms of infrastructure damage and loss of investment since it joined the USA led war on terror.

Valverde delighted to be on Messi's side
Madrid had opened with a convincing 3-0 win at Deportivo La Coruna but then was held to a 2-2 draw by Valencia at the Bernabeu. Dembele's inclusion at the expense of Gerard Deulofeu is Valverde's only change for his first European test as Barca boss.
