Rate of Texans Without Health Insurance Falls Still Tops US

For example, Hispanic patients had the highest uninsured visit rates before Medicaid expansion and, after Medicaid expansion, a significantly smaller decline in rates of uninsured visits than non-Hispanic whites and non-Hispanic blacks. Lighter shades of blue highlight states with lower uninsured rates.

U.S. Census Bureau data released Tuesday shows Texas' 2016 rate of uninsured at 16.6 percent. A total of 67.5 percent of Americans had private coverage and 37.3 percent had government coverage, with employer coverage insuring the largest percentage of the population (55.7 percent). The uninsured rate has decreased ever year since then.

ObamaCare required most people to enroll in coverage or pay a penalty, and allowed young adults up to age 26 to stay on their parents' health insurance plans. The uninsured rate remains higher in 19 non-expansion states. The average uninsured rate is lower in states that expanded Medicaid (6.5 percent) than in states that did not expand Medicaid (11.7 percent). Large parts of the United States were dark blue in 2013, according to the Census maps.

That means about 1.2 million fewer Texans without health insurance previous year, compared to 2013.

Hurricane Irma pummels Florida amid mass exodus
The hurricane center warns that winds affecting upper floors of high-rise building will be much stronger than at ground level. Officials in Miami-Dade and Broward counties in Florida are ordering evacuations of certain residents in low-lying areas.

On September 12, 2017, the United States Census Bureau released its report on Health Insurance Coverage in the United States for 2016. That year was the first in which almost all Americans were required by Obamacare to have some form of health coverage or be subject to a tax penalty.

Shelby Livingston is an insurance reporter. That year was the first time that the percentage of all Americans without health coverage fell below 10 percent, to 9.1 percent, or 29 million people. Like the Minnesota's 1332 proposal, Oregon's proposal would reinsure claims that exceeded an attachment point at a specified percentage rate up to a cap, instead of reinsuring cases with particular conditions as Alaska will do in its 1332 waiver program.

Children in poverty are more likely to not have health insurance than children not in poverty.

The number of people covered by Medicare grew by 0.4% from 2015 to 2016, while the percentage of people covered by other types of insurance remained essentially unchanged. "Eleven states and the District of Columbia did not have a statistically significant change in their uninsured rate".

Mass Evacuations in Russian Cities Continue After Bomb Threats
More than 20,000 people were evacuated across Moscow Wednesday after several bomb threats were reported in various locations. Cops in Moscow reportedly received an anonymous call about an explosion in Red Square, according to news agency Interfax.

The number of Floridians without health insurance dropped again in 2016, according to figures from the U.S. Census. The only statistically significant gain in coverage (0.4 percent) was in the Medicare population. Military-based health plans covered another 4.6 percent of people.

Last year, 28.1 million people, or 8.8% of the US population, were uninsured for the entire calendar year, down from 29 million people, or 9.1% of the population in 2015.

The number of children with insurance in Florida also increased in 2016 from 92.6 in 2015 percent to 93.4 percent.

White people had the lowest uninsured rate of any ethnicity at 6.3%.
