Tensions between the United States and North Korea have ratcheted up after the sixth and most powerful nuclear test conducted by Pyongyang on September 3 prompted the United Nations Security Council to impose further sanctions on Tuesday.

"The DPRK will redouble the efforts to increase its strength to safeguard the country's sovereignty and right to existence", the ministry said, using the abbreviation for the North's official name.

US Ambassador Nikki Haley said the tough new measures were a message to Pyongyang that "the world will never accept a nuclear-armed North Korea", but she also held out the prospect of a peaceful resolution to the crisis.

As the tension between USA and North Korea seemed to be rising, Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley stated that the United States is not looking for war with North Korea, and that Pyongyang has "not yet passed the point of no return".

Bitcoin and other forms of virtual money - known as cryptocurrencies - appeal to North Korea as the US pursues worldwide sanctions aimed at further isolating the country, according to a new report from FireEye.

"Today's resolution would not have happened without the strong relationship that has developed between President Trump and Chinese President Xi", Haley said.

The resolution imposes a ban on condensates and natural gas liquids, a cap of 2 million barrels a year on refined petroleum products, and a cap on crude oil exports to North Korea at current levels. "We sent a message that anybody that wanted to trade with North Korea, we would consider them not trading with us". Frustrated that China had not done more to rein in North Korea, the Trump administration was mulling new sanctions in July on small Chinese banks and other firms doing business with Pyongyang, two senior US officials told Reuters.

Pyongyang conducted its sixth and largest nuclear test last week - saying it was a hydrogen bomb that could be fitted into a missile - prompting global condemnation and heightening tensions over its weapons ambitions.

It also spread misery into Georgia and SC as it moved inland with winds at 50 miles per hour , causing flooding and power outages. Last month, Trump paid two visits to Texas after Hurricane Harvey tore through the state leaving behind extensive flooding.

The reduction in oil sales to North Korea isn't expected to change Kim's calculus.

Onodera said Tokyo could not rule out the possibility that the test had been of a hydrogen bomb. Russian Federation and China have also expressed concern about the humanitarian impact of strengthening sanctions on North Korea. Trump has vowed not to allow North Korea to develop a nuclear missile capable of hitting the mainland United States. An Aug. 5 United Nations resolution banned North Korean exports of coal.

The two nations set out what they called "four nos."

During tough negotiations, the United States dropped initial demands for a full oil embargo and a freeze on the foreign assets of North Korean leader Kim Jong-Un.
