Chief Election Officer S B Babbar told PTI that the authorities received calls from colleges about a good number of voter turnout. In the college panel voting, the two student organisations, the ABVP and NSUI, were locked in a close battle. In last year the DU recorded 30% voting and sources are saying that this year the votes are about the increase for sure.

Other contestants fielded by ABVP and NSUI for the post of general secretary and joint secretary are Mahamedhaa Nagar, Uma Shankar, Meenakshi Meena and Avinash Yadav respectively.

Justice Indermeet Kaur of the High Court, however, said the outcome of the poll "will be subject to the outcome of the main petition" filed by Congress-affiliated National Students Union of India's presidential candidate, Rocky Tuseed.
