The Iranian company Mabna will sell five gas-fired power plants to the heavily damaged city of Aleppo for about $155 million.

He then highlighted that Iran's resources in water and electricity industries make the country able to play a bolder role in rebuilding the war-torn country of Syria.

The contracts, worth "several hundred million euros", were signed during Syrian Electricity Minister Mohammad Zuhair Kharboutli's visit to Tehran on Tuesday.

Iran has been an indispensable ally to President Bashar Assad, organizing militias from Lebanon to Afghanistan to fight for alongside his forces and sending its own Revolutionary Guards Corps to Syria to manage battles.

Damascus is also likely to turn to Russian and Chinese firms to help rebuild the country's infrastructure, although the future of Assad's government is not assured, with Western powers pushing for his eventual removal.

Mass Evacuations in Russian Cities Continue After Bomb Threats
More than 20,000 people were evacuated across Moscow Wednesday after several bomb threats were reported in various locations. Cops in Moscow reportedly received an anonymous call about an explosion in Red Square, according to news agency Interfax.

"We are glad that good news is coming out about the situation in Syria these days, and the terrorists are facing defeat and complete elimination", Sattar Mahmoudi, Iran's caretaker energy minister, said during the signing ceremony. We will bring light to houses of the Syrian people.

Other concessions signed to Iran include thousands of hectares of land for farming and oil and gas terminals, and the operation of a phosphate mine in central Syria, according to Iran's official IRNA news agency.
