Critics have slammed her alleged complicity in what they consider to be the "ethnic cleansing" of Rohingya Muslims in the country's northwestern Rakhine state.

"Of course, our resources are not as complete and adequate as we would like them to be but, still, we try our best and we want to make sure that everyone is entitled to the protection of the law", she said during a visit by Indian Prime Narendra Modi to Yangon.

According to the Newspaper, Suu Kyi to take steps to give citizenship rights to the Rohingya.He told The Hindu here on Saturday that the Rohingya don't have any documents to prove their nationality.

"This is a political issue because the party that has been carrying out the atrocities is Myanmar's government, at the top of which is a cruel woman who has won the Nobel Peace Prize".

"There are over 80 recommendations, but many of them address the underlying conditions in Rakhine State that cause so much friction and challenge".
