Greenville County schools update response to hurricane

The county plans to reopen schools Monday, but the date could change. That means none of the schools will be open Tuesday. An announcement will be made about Thursday as soon as possible. Many schools served shelters before and after the storm.

"This will also provide time for cleanup and fix of our homes, schools and community", the release states.

Schools in the Columbia County School District will reopen Wednesday beginning at their usual times.

For safety concerns, people should not go onto any of the campuses until they are re-opened.

The district's Inclement Conditions Evaluation team was out this morning between 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. doing damage assessments and found no significant damage to schools.

But the district's calendar only includes one of these days in the schedule. It is also working to update employees who will be needed to reopen.
