This week, at least 300 boats arrived in Cox's Bazar from Myanmar.

However, Rohingya have described large-scale violence perpetrated by Myanmar troops and Buddhist mobs setting fire to their homes, spraying bullets indiscriminately and ordering them to leave or be killed.

Ayatollah Ali Khamenei said the killing of Rohingya Muslims is a political disaster for Myanmar because it is being carried out by a government led by Nobel Peace Prize victor Aung San Suu Kyi, whom he called a "brutal woman".

White House spokeswoman Sarah Huckabee Sanders says the administration continues to condemn the violence between Rohingya Muslims and Myanmar security forces.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday called on the worldwide community to ask Myanmar to take back its citizens who were seeking refuge in Bangladesh.

He complained that Myanmar's Muslims have been "abandoned by most of the world, including a lot of Muslim countries", which have lined up with the Persian Gulf states in their negligence toward the Rohingya minority.

Thousands of ethnic Rohingya Muslims have been arriving daily by foot across the swampy border as well as by rickety wooden boats traveling on wild seas since violence erupted on August 25 in Myanmar. An envoy's visit in July was met with protests.

"We need to prepare for many more to come, I am afraid", said Shinni Kubo, Bangladesh country manager for UNHCR.
