Target recalls 4-drawer dressers that could harm children

Target is recalling thousands of dressers because they could become unsafe.

If the recalled dresser isn't anchored to the wall, it poses serious tip-over and entrapment hazards that could result in death or injuries to children.

Target is recalling almost 180,000 dressers after 12 reports of dressers tipping or collapsing.

The recall involves the Room Essentials 4-Drawer dressers sold in three colors.

The CPSC added that 12 reports of dressers tipping or collapsing have come in, including tipping over onto three year old children.

About 175,000 of the dressers were sold in the US, and 3,000 were sold in Canada.

The recalled items were sold in Target Stores nationwide and online from January 2013 to April 2016 for around $118.

Target is offering a full refund for the dressers. Stores will offer a refund to customers, company officials said in a posting on the Consumer Product Safety Commission's website.

Target is recalling dressers that are unstable if not anchored to a wall.
