The London Ambulance Service said 18 people have been taken to hospital, and four more reached there on their own.

Prime Minister Theresa May said her thoughts were with the victims.

This is fourth terrorist attack in the United Kingdom this year following separate attacks in Manchester, London Bridge and Finsbury Park.

One local resident, Charlie Craven, who was on his way to the station, said he heard a "massive bang".

The explosion in the subway in London suffered about 20 people - they suffered burns and various injuries in the beginning of a stampede.

Police and emergency services were called to Parsons Green station at 8.20am following reports of an incident on a District line underground train.

Witnesses said they saw a white "builder's bucket" in a supermarket bag, and pictures online appeared to show a flaming bucket with wires protruding from it inside a plastic carrier bag on the floor of a carriage.

Health officials say the number of people injured in the London subway bombing has risen to 22.

Around two hours after the explosion, the Metropolitan Police confirmed they were treating it as a terrorist incident.

"I saw people with minor injuries, burns to the face, arms, legs, multiple casualties in that way.People were helping each other", he said.

He added, loser terrorists should be dealt with in a tougher manner, including cutting off internet access to those who use it as a recruitment tool.
