California lawmakers approve 'sanctuary state' bill

The legislative deal was announced the same day that California Attorney General Xavier Becerra said he's filing a lawsuit over the Trump administration's decision to phase out the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program, which protects young immigrants living in the USA illegally from deportation.

The bill will prohibit additional jail time meant to allow immigration enforcement officials to take undocumented immigrants arrested for other reasons into custody.

The California Values Act would forbid state and local law enforcement agencies from providing information to or acting as the deputies for federal immigration authorities. The measure was one of several introduced by Democratic lawmakers to benefit California's 2.3 million illegal immigrant residents.

Kevin De León, D-Los Angeles, said his legislation doesn't detract from the ultimate goal of local law enforcement in the state: keeping Californians safe.

The cast features Kenichirou Matsuda as Iggy, Ichigo Aoba as Trixie, and Makoto Furukawa as Ren. Blade Runner Black Out 2022 is set to hit Sony Picture Japan's YouTube channel on September 26.

The bill's approval comes less than a day after a federal judge blocked the Trump administration's rules requiring cities to help enforce federal immigration laws in order to receive funding.

Immigration agents would still be allowed to interview immigrants in jail, and immigration agents would not be barred from accessing state databases. "CSSA further states that "... we can not support legislation that limits our ability to protect our communities in a symbolic attempt to impact federal law and policy".

California already has some of the most protective laws in the country for immigrants detained by law enforcement.

"The California State Sheriffs' Association (CSSA) remains opposed to SB 54 writing, "... limiting local law enforcement's ability to communicate and cooperate with federal law enforcement officers endangers public safety." .

A pair of bills seeking to ban smoking at California's parks and beaches are heading to Gov.

Acting Director Thomas Homan says in a statement Saturday that the legislation "serves to codify a unsafe policy that deliberately obstructs our country's immigration laws".

"If California politicians pass this bill, they will be prioritizing politics over the safety and security of their constituents", Homan said in a statement this week. They've passed legislation and filed lawsuits aimed at protecting immigrants, combating climate change and blocking any future attempt to build a registry of Muslims.
