Steve Nicol says Pep Guardiola and Man City will need to start tinkering after Benjamin Mendy suffered a torn ACL.

A statement from the club read: 'Manchester City can confirm that Benjamin Mendy has ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.

After initial tests in Manchester, Mendy travelled to Barcelona to see a specialist, where the extent of the damage was confirmed.

The diagnosis, though, was not a good one for Mendy who will now undergo surgery in Barcelona on Friday, with the France defender facing several months on the sidelines.

The French defender picked up the injury during the first half of City's Saturday's 5-0 Premier League victory at home to Crystal Palace.

To make matters much worse, on Friday morning, news emerged that Sergio Aguero had been in a vehicle accident in Holland and had suffered a fractured rib in the collision.
