African-American school teacher DeAndre Harris, victim of a beating by neo-Nazis in Charlottesville, Virginia, in August, has been charged with assaulting the white supremacists who beat him with boards, iron rods, and brass knuckles.

A black man seen in a viral video being beaten by a crowd at a white nationalist demonstration in Charlottesville, Va., is reportedly facing a felony charge in connection with the incident.

A warrant was issued Monday for the arrest of DeAndre Harris, 20, for unlawful wounding in connection with the attack at the "Unite the Right" rally, Charlottesville police told local media.

"We find it highly offensive and upsetting", Lee Merritt, a civil lawyer for Harris, told the Washington Post about the warrant, adding that the charge was "clearly retaliatory". More information on the accusations will be released after Harris is arrested, police said. Photos and videos of his attack and a skirmish with others can be found online.

White supremacist Borden, hours before attacking Harris, threw the metal-tipped wood at photographer Roberts' head. The magistrate issued the warrant Monday after consulting with police. Two of his attackers were charged with malicious wounding in September.
