Woods announced on Monday that he will play in the 2017 Hero World Challenge, which runs from November 30 - December 3.

Only Sam Snead (82) has earned more wins on the PGA Tour than Woods, who claimed the last of his 79 victories at the 2013 Bridgestone Invitational.

Last year Woods also made a comeback at the same event, ending almost 16 months on the sidelines, and finished 15th in a final field of 17. However, Woods, fantasy players, and golf fans all now have a target date for his next round on Tour - November 30. Woods has previously won the event, which he hosts and is a benefit for his charity, five times.

"All of us would be overjoyed if Tiger Woods could come back and play at a high level", Woods' former swing coach Butch Harmon told Sky Sports.

"Albany is the flawless setting and it will be great to join this outstanding field", Woods said on his website. In April, he underwent a fourth back surgery.

Woods, who has missed significant time after multiple back surgeries, last played in February at the Dubai Desert Classic but withdrew after an opening-round 77 due to back spasms.

Off the course, it's been a tough year for the 14-time major victor. "He's playing an appropriate event because there are only 18 players, even though they are top echelon players".

Joining Woods in the star studded field for the Hero World Challenge include the likes of Dustin Justin, Jordan Spieth, Jason Day and Justin Thomas.

This comes after Woods pleaded guilty Friday to reckless driving in a deal that will keep him out of jail as long as he stays out of trouble, resolving charges from an arrest last spring in which he was found passed out in his Mercedes with prescription drugs and marijuana in his system.
