Sessions under renewed scrutiny on Capitol Hill

Franken's comments on CNN's "Erin Burnett OutFront" came after unsealed court documents showed former Trump campaign adviser George Papadopoulos had told the campaign about a potential meeting opportunity between Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, and news emerged that Sessions vetoed the idea.

Judiciary Committee Democrats want to question Sessions, who was the Trump campaign's chief foreign policy adviser, about his denials that he knew anything about contacts between the campaign and Russians or Russian government intermediaries. It was a very unimportant meeting.

The meeting, which took place March 31, was attended by then Sen. During the session, George Papadopoulos, a 30-year-old energy consultant, suggested that he could broker a meeting between the campaign and Putin.

Thursday's developmenst came as multiple Trump campaign officials were being investigated by Special Counsel Robert Mueller over alleged links to Russian Federation and an alleged concerted effort to collude with Moscow in influencing the 2016 USA presidential election. Revelations that the attorney general was previously in a meeting with former Trump campaign aide George Papadopoulos and was told about Page's trips to Russian Federation have been raised by lawmakers as a subject of further inquiry.

Gordon told CNN that Trump "heard (Papadopoulos) out" when he offered to set up the meeting.

Antonio Conte is " more than capable" of getting Chelsea back on track, says former Premier League title victor Eidur Gudjohnsen. That is one of the poorest decisions I have ever seen in the Premier League .

The meeting has become a focal point this week because it was revealed that Papadopoulos pleaded guilty last month to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about contacts he had during the campaign with people with purported ties to the Russian government.

Those meetings never happened, however, Sessions never disclosed those discussions when grilled about them during multiple hearings on Capitol Hill.

"If there is any evidence that anyone affiliated with the Trump campaign communicated with the Russian government in the course of this campaign, what will you do?"

In addition to Leahy and Blumenthal, Senators Al Franken (Minn.) and Chuck Schumer (NY) are calling for the attorney general to testify.

The Justice Department declined to comment, and Trump denies any collusion. Sessions didn't respond and moved on to the next person waiting to shake his hand, this source said.

Page also recently appeared on MSNBC and told Chris Hayes he may have exchanged emails with George Papadopoulos about Russian Federation.
