Apple wins $120 million from Samsung in slide-to-unlock patent battle

After years of court trials, Apple has finally claimed victory over Samsung in the Slide-to-Unlock patent battle for a total of $119.6 million.

Anyway, as per the court ruling, Samsung was found to have infringed upon both these patents and is now liable to pay more than $120 million in damages to Apple. We're guessing that every court decision made in the future, as evidenced by history, will be appealed, so don't expect Apple vs. Samsung to settle down anytime soon. The case also involved patents on features such as turning data into links - like tapping a phone number to dial it.

Grab The Original Watch Dogs For Free On PC This Week
The sequel, Watch Dogs 2 , was released just a year ago this month, and moved the setting of the series to San Francisco. From November 7, 4pm UTC until November 13, 4pm UTC, you can grab Watch Dogs for free, and then it's yours forever.

But here's the amusing part: all the original phones involved in the battle have already been phased out of protection. Apple Inc is expected to report a 1.3 percent increase in iPhone sales in the holiday quarter, its slowest ever and a far cry from the double-digit growth investors have come to expect. Apple doesn't even use the "Slide To Unlock" feature anymore!

Last March, Samsung petitioned the Supreme Court to take a final look at the case. Since then, Samsung has filed multiple appeals against the judgment and briefly succeeded in getting the decision overturned before it was later reinstated.

Ryan Reynolds Hilariously Made Fun of Blake Lively's Drastic Make-Under
But Blake and Ryan somehow manage to keep it banterous and light-hearted. But oh, I'm so in love with him when he writes that stuff. If you drive down skid row, that is not what you see.

Although 120 million Dollars sounds pretty impressive, it is just a fraction of the total USD 2 billion demanded by Apple's lawyers from Samsung for the infringement.

The company had noted that one of Apple's patents at issue in the case had been invalidated by courts "and yet today's decision allows Apple to unjustly profit from this patent, stunts innovation and places competition in the courtroom rather than the marketplace". As it turns out, it was a futile attempt by Samsung and now, has no option to pay to Apple.

Robert Mugabe sacks deputy to pave route to power for wife Grace
Mnangagwa had been vice president since 2014 when his predecessor, Joice Mujuru, was sacked for allegedly plotting to oust Mugabe. Mnangagwa was the most prominent of two vice presidents and had been part of Mugabe's cabinet since independence in 1980.

The companies have battled in close to a dozen countries, with each accusing the other of infringing on various patents related to their flagship smartphone and tablet products.
