A community is in shock after a 52-year-old woman crashed her 4WD into a Greenacre primary school in southwest Sydney.

The other 19 children in the classroom at the time of the crash were seen by paramedics at the scene.

Two eight-year-old girls were transported to the same hospital in a stable condition, and one nine-year-old girl was also taken there in a serious condition. A 52-year-old woman was driving the auto and police believe the crash was not intentional.

Police said the auto left the road and crashed into the classroom where a lesson was taking place.

"He was saying "I want my mum".

The woman, who screamed "help, I'm sorry" after the crash has been charged with two counts of unsafe driving occasioning death and suspended her licence.

Two ambulance chaplains have been brought in to the school to support victims, and officers said counselling would be offered to students.

'Obviously it was a scene of carnage, ' she said.

A student named Terek said he started crying when the auto crashed into the classroom.

Two eight-year-old boys were critically injured in the incident, and later died in hospital.

The woman was granted conditional bail and is scheduled to appear at Bankstown Local Court on November 29. Seventeen children and a female teacher were assessed on the grounds by paramedics.

Police are investigating how the crash happened, but NSW Police Commander Stuart Smith said: 'We do not believe this was an intentional act'.

"They were crying, they were distressed, some were asking for their parents", Ms Radnidge said.

It is not yet been established whether or not she had any connection to the school.

"It is an active crash investigation".

Dozens of parents frantically searched for information at police barricades as roads around the school were closed down throughout Tuesday. A further 18 children were treated at the scene for minor injuries.
