Morgan, on the other hand, will reportedly go to work on writing the script for the upcoming Fast and Furious film franchise spinoff, which will team Dwayne Johnson's Hobbs with Jason Statham's Deckard.

After The Mummy underwhelmed on a critical and financial level this past summer, Universal's Dark Universe appeared to be DOA. Kurtzman is now working as an executive producer on CBS' Star Trek: Discovery in addition to a number of other projects he's involved in because of a deal he has with the network. THR reports that Universal is weighing options on how to salvage the Dark Universe (or indeed if it should be salvaged) but with the departure of Kurtzman and Morgan and the disastrous performance of The Mummy, it looks like the end may have come for these monsters before they could really start rampaging. And the film's meager box office haul didn't help either - earning just $409 million worldwide on a budget of $125 million-plus.

United States gasoline inventories hit lowest level since November 2014
US distillate inventories fell to 125.6 million barrels, the lowest weekly figure since February 2015, EIA data showed. As a result of e-commerce in London and NY stock exchanges, the world oil prices are falling, Gazeta.ru reports.

As for the exiting Dark Universe cinematic stewards, Kurtzman will shift focus back to his television projects, notably Star Trek: Discovery, Hawaii Five-0, Scorpion and Salvation.

The failure of The Mummy didn't bode well for the future of the franchise, even upon its initial release.

Voters talk about poll simplicity
The Election Commission of India (ECI) has made the process of updating your address in your voter ID card a very simple process. That turnout is pretty good - but that's only 70 percent of the registered voters, not the total amount of eligible Americans.

The Hollywood Reporter have revealed that the producers drafted in to plant the creative seeds that would find Johnny Depp headlining The Invisible Man, Javier Bardem bringing Frankenstein's monster to life, and Bill Condon directing Angelina Jolie as the Bride of Frankenstein, have departed The Dark Universe for good.

Universal isn't giving up entirely with its vast library of monsters, which includes Frankenstein, the Wolf Man, Dracula and others. Word from the studio was that the film wasn't cancelled, merely "postponed", with the previously-set February 14, 2019 release date scrapped.

Rockies' DJ LeMahieu earns second career Gold Glove Award
Goldschmidt, 30, captured his third Gold Glove distinction to cap a stellar season that puts him firmly in the MVP conversation. Third baseman Evan Longoria of the Tampa Bay Rays was awarded the third Rawlings Gold Glove Award of his career on Tuesday.

Universal President of Production Peter Cramer said: "We've learned many lessons throughout the creative process on Dark Universe so far, and we are viewing these titles as filmmaker-driven vehicles, each with their own distinct vision". The Dark Universe launch didn't work, but there's always a chance of an alternate path. Universal tried to hit the ground running with their attempt to make a cinematic universe out of their existing catalog of monsters. The studio heads seem to be talking out of both sides of their mouths by shutting down production on Bride and then claiming they're looking for visionary directors to tackle these projects.
