Victorville City hosting 21st annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony

The last parade of the year will be the most patriotic.

This year, the City of Mansfield and Mansfield Churches FOR THE CITY are joining with the American Legion Post 624 and the Mansfield Independent School District to recognize and honor our local Veterans with the city's first ever Veterans Day Parade.

Patrons lined up along Universal City Boulevard to Bowie Street to view the 47th annual Universal City Veterans Parade on November 4.

Parade grand marshals are Col. Todd Ferry, USMC, commanding officer of Marine Corps Air Station Cherry Point and Capt. Gerald Woelkers, commanding officer of the Naval Health Clinic aboard the air station. The U.S. Army Band also played during that event and the Andrews High School Chorus performed.

Veterans Day, the day the USA thanks military veterans for serving, will be marked with several events in the Keys.

After the parade, veterans and citizens are invited to the Farmer's Market Pavilion for a light meet and greet. Along with area veterans groups, there will be an assortment of fire trucks and military equipment.

With so many people wanting to go back to the series' boots on the ground roots, it's no wonder that Call of Duty: WWII has sold so well.

"For this year's Ceremony, we wanted to find the heroes among us and honor them", says Victorville Mayor Gloria Garcia.

This observance originated as "Armistice Day in 1919, commemorating the end of World War I. It was an annual observance as Armistice Day until 1938, when it became a National Holiday to honor our Veterans who have served our country".
