4-year-old 'rapes' classmate: Probing case with highest degree of sensitivity, say police

A four-and-a-half-year-old boy has been booked for raping a classmate on the premises of a private school in West Delhi. The police have registered a rape case, but they are reportedly consulting legal experts on how to proceed against such a young accused; a child below seven years of age can not be charged under the law. According to the complaint, the girl had complained of pain in her private parts after returning from school on Friday.

Parents of the girl had alleged that the washroom and the classroom where the incident took place were left unattended by any concerned school staff.

Company Testing Feature To Save Tweets Privately — Bookmarks In Twitter
Twitter is now testing a new feature called Bookmarks, which will allow their users to save tweets for later. Keith Coleman, Head of Product, had tweeted that the new feature #SaveForLater was in the works.

Accusing the school management of laxity, the parents have alleged that a school teacher and school coordinator, on being told about the incident, feigned ignorance and offered no concrete assistance. The child then told her parents about the assault, the police confirmed.

Delhi Police chief spokesperson is quoted as telling the Hindustan Times newspaper, "The Indian Penal Code provides children below seven years of age certain protections against prosecution. We are examining those provisions even as we are handling the matter with utmost sensitivity". When I send my daughter to school, I hand her over to the teachers and other staff, not to other children studying there. According to police, the girl's mother approached them on Sunday after approaching the Delhi Commission for Women.

While, NDTV reported that the school has said that it was "impossible" that 4-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by another classmate of the same age, their lawyer had earlier denied charges of negligence. Her mother says she's now scarred for life and school would be a torture for her. A medical-legal was made first and later a police case was registered against the four-year-old boy at the Dwarka south police station. She informed the school again on Saturday, but the authorities allegedly did not cooperate with her and instead asked her to give a written complaint on Monday. Is there a possibility of a sexual need being fulfilled in his case?
