"I just tried to stay as balanced as I could", Shiffrin said of her second run. With a win and a second-place finish each, Shiffrin and Vlhova are now tied for the slalom points lead.

Stephanie Brunner of Austria was fourth with a time of 1:59.28 and Italy's Federica Brignone was fifth in 1:59.38.

Kjetil Jansrud picked up where he left off in the season-opening men's World Cup super-G race, as Mikaela Shiffrin dominated the women's slalom.

She did however finish second in Saturday's giant slalom on this same course and said the home crowd helped ease the pressure Sunday.

Today's win for Shiffrin was her 26 in World Cup slalom competition.

Slovakia's Petra Vlhová, who won the last two World Cup slaloms, finished 1.64 seconds behind in the runners-up spot.

On a day when cold wind gusts and angry snow squalls raked Killington, Shiffrin won the first run convincingly, and then skied brilliantly on a brutal second course to distance herself further from her rivals.

"This was even sweeter than last year", Shiffrin said, noting that last year she was "almost incapacitated by nerves" while competing in Vermont.

The 2010 Olympic champion edged out American favourite Mikaela Shiffrin, the World Cup overall leader, as she clocked up a combined two-run time of 1.57.63.

Ahead with an insurmountable.89 lead in the slalom, Shiffrin, smiling ear-to-ear, was asked if she had anything to say.

Mikaela Shiffrin had one of those days on Sunday, the kind her competitors on the World Cup have come to dread.

She credited a blazing start in the first run for picking her up. "I felt confident today".

White House official: Trump won't campaign for Roy Moore
The White House said Monday that President Donald Trump will not campaign for Moore before the state's December 12 election. The Times reported Trump has told at least one senator this year that the tape was not real.

Wendy Holdener of Switzerland was in second and Bernadette Schild of Austria was third.

With a thundering crowd, overcast skies and light precipitation moving in for the second run, Shiffrin took a few risks to maintain her podium position.

Lucas Pouille's 6-3, 6-1, 6-0 win over Steve Darcis in the second reverse singles gave France its 10th Davis Cup title, ending a run of three losses in finals.
