The Big Three have released their November 2017 sales reports Friday, with the Ford Motor Company being the only automaker to have higher sales compared to past year.

Despite that, Ford posted a 5.2 percent increase in sales of its Ford brand passenger cars, reflecting a 44.9 percent jump in sales of the Focus. The carmaker's year-to-date sales, as of November 30, were down 1.1 percent, from 2.72 million last year to 2.69 million this year.

Ford's Edge crossover and Explorer SUV were up 22.5% and 24.8%, respectively.

As rivals General Motors and Ford have done over the past year, FCA is trying to reduce sales of less-profitable vehicles to daily rental companies.

The Audi Q5 compact utility vehicle enjoyed a double digit sales increase, helping the automaker to its 83rd consecutive monthly USA sales increase. The automakers have had more leeway to offer big discounts and cheap loans because buyers have been snapping up more sport utility vehicles and trucks, which usually sell for more than the passenger cars that consumers are snubbing."November and December over the last few years have become a very big merchandising window for the industry", Mark LaNeve, Ford's United States sales chief, told analysts and reporters on a conference call Friday.

Through the first 10 months of 2017 fleet sales represented 20.4% of the company's total sales, the lowest level since 2001, according to spokesman Ralph Kisiel.

GM said in a release that sales to commercial and government fleets rose 7 percent, driven by a 30 percent increase in full-size pickup sales and a 35 percent increase for the Chevrolet Tahoe Police Pursuit Vehicle. But total fleet sales were down 13% after a 24% reduction in daily rental deliveries.

FCAU has been the subject of several other reports.

Black Friday deals and strong consumer confidence could push auto sales higher in November despite waning demand for post-hurricane replacement vehicles.

Sales were buoyed by strong US consumer confidence, which was at its highest level since November 2000, according to the Conference Board.

Toyota down 2.4% and Lexus off 6.7%.

"U.S. economic growth has stepped up and we expect the momentum will carry over to 2018", said Mustafa Mohatarem, GM chief economist. Sales of the recently revamped Impreza sedan more than tripled, offsetting declines for the Outback SUV. Sales of the Forester were up slightly, but it was enough to make it the company's new top seller.

The Ford Motor Company reported more than 210,000 vehicle sales for the month of November, a 6.7 percent increase over last year's numbers. The firm predicts incentive spending reached a record for the month at $4,065 per unit, as auto makers tried to clear out inventories of 2017 model year vehicles with Black Friday discounts. There were 171,345 Cruzes sold as of November 30, down slightly from 171,552 in the same 11 months in 2016.

Audi, in their first weekend as a full works entry, were also fined 5,000 euros ($5,944) for a separate infringement. Abt trailed long-time race leader Mortara before the Swiss-born driver spun his vehicle with two laps to go.

New vehicle sales stalled last month even as demand for trucks remained very healthy during November. "We're in the post-peak sales period as evidence by the increased incentive spending".
