Female senators are calling on fellow Democratic Sen.

U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D., Ohio) said Wednesday that his Democratic colleague Sen. Al Franken to resign in the wake of a series of allegations of sexual misconduct.

Franken has been accused of forcibly kissing or groping numerous women.

Franken has apologized for most of the incidents and has said he would cooperate with a Senate ethics probe into his behavior.

Franken plans to make an announcement Thursday.

The developments reached as far as Alabama, where Democratic Senate candidate Doug Jones also called on Franken to resign.

"I'm shocked and appalled by Sen. He has to step aside". The unnamed woman told Politico that Franken attempted to force himself on her.

A former congressional aide told Politico that Franken attempted to forcibly kiss her in 2006 after a taping of his radio show.

On Twitter, Sen. Claire McCaskill wrote simply: "Al Franken should resign".

While campaigning for the presidency, candidate Trump promised that he would "immediately terminate" DACA after being elected. The Justice Department under Sessions, and DHS under Nielsen, will share in enforcing different portions of immigration law.

If Franken resigns, Minnesota Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton would pick his replacement, who would serve until a November 2018 special election to fill the final two years of Franken's term. Tom Udall of New Mexico, Tom Carper of Delaware, Jeff Merkley of Oregon, Cory Booker of New Jersey, Gary Peters of MI and Sherrod Brown also called for Franken to step down. Sen. He said he did not speak to Senator Franken but had his staff inform Senator Franken's staff. "Franken's behavior", Ms. Murray said.
