Monaco head coach Leonardo Jardim insisted Premier League target Thomas Lemar will not be allowed to leave the French champions in January.

The January transfer window is now open so clubs are working hard trying to strengthen their squads for the second half of the season and put deals in place for the summer.

Now Coutinho is eager to join Barcelona once more and the natural link with Lemar has been raised once again, with Monaco making it clear that they have no intent of selling their French worldwide in this transfer window.

Now, according to an exclusive report covered by Duncan Castles (Yahoo Sport), Lemar has talked with the Reds and as per sources close to him, he has chose to sign for Liverpool if they can agree a fee with the Ligue 1 club.

The French worldwide attracted strong interest from the Premier League in the summer with Monaco vice-president Vadim Vasilyev confirming in October that Arsenal and Liverpool made attempts to secure Lemar's signature on deadline day.

"Monaco are not in the habit of making big sales in the winter", he said.

But which players do the fans want the clubs they support to sign this month?

Liverpool, too, have been following the progress of the 22-year-old for a long time now, and are in the market for a midfielder as Philippe Coutinho looks set to join Barcelona this month.

Aldridge told the Irish Independent: "Liverpool made a real statement of intent when they paid £75m to sign Virgil van Dijk - and now they should put in a sneaky £40m offer to try and get Alexis Sanchez out of Arsenal".
