Two airliners collided on the tarmac of Toronto's Pearson International Airport on Saturday morning, causing a small fire.

No passengers or crew members were injured, but one member of the emergency services was treated in hospital, officials said late on Friday.

A WestJet flight from Cancun with 174 people onboard had just arrived in Toronto and was waiting to proceed to its gate when it was hit by an empty Sunwing airliner being towed by the airline's ground service, CBC News reports.

Amateur video footage of the incident was shot by a passenger on board the Westjet plane.

One video showed children frantically looking around and yelling as they awaited instruction.

'Emergency crews were on hand and responded immediately, ' Westjet said in a statement.

The Transportation Safety Board was onsite at Toronto Pearson Friday to investigate the collision, the airport confirmed.
