The Post is a potent and riveting watch with stirring performances by Meryl Streep and Tom Hanks that thoroughly enhance the proceedings.

4 stars to 3 1/2 stars: Good film, see it if it's your type of movie. It is also interesting to see the portrayal of a time where fraternization between highly placed politicos such as Robert McNamara (Bruce Greenwood) and press figures like Graham was much more casual. The papers and the following investigation brought down the presidency of Richard Nixon, who hated the press.

With the papers in their possession, Graham and her editor Ben Bradlee found themselves having to make a tough - and now legendary - call: To publish and risk the destruction of the company at the hands of President Nixon's goon-squad of bullies and lawyers, or to play it safe but betray the ideals of journalism and the founding fathers.

Meryl Streep paid a visit to Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday (Jan. 8) to promote her latest film, The Post, and recounted her "wild night" at the Golden Globes on Sunday (Jan. 7).

Graham played a vital role in history, not just because she was the first female publisher in the country, but because of making this hard decision to publish the papers and the information they contained about the Vietnam War, despite government officials and lawyers trying to deter her from doing so. He'd seen a script about the publication of the Pentagon Papers, which the White House had attempted to block.

Set in 1971 in Washington, D.C., Spielberg's "The Post" is based on the fascinating true story of the Pentagon Papers, a revealing and extensive series of documents that exposed backroom USA involvement in Vietnam stretching back to the Truman administration.

When it comes to newspaper movies, I will admit I am biased.

Heavy-handed to be sure - "The Post" is at its best when Spielberg stays out of the story's way and lets it unfold - and totally unnecessary, but why shouldn't Katharine Graham get her hero's walk?

The story begins just after Graham - with nearly no experience running a newspaper - had hired the now legendary Ben Bradlee as the newspaper's editor. "What was perhaps going to be a museum piece about how quaint it was back in 1971 when the Katharine Graham had to forcefully remove herself in order to be able to run the newspaper that was in her family we ended up catching up to some brand of whirlwind that took us quite frankly a little bit by surprise".

The new USA embassy is in Nine Elms near the former site of the iconic Battersea Power Station in South West London . "The U.S. Several protests groups had planned gatherings in London during Trump's visit to protest against him for his remarks.

In a larger sense, the pure professionalism of "The Post", from Spielberg's restless camera to the awesome period costumes, eventually gives the movie much of the gravity to which it aspires.

"For me, those are credentials for qualification".

Streep plays a more layered role, a patrician yet vulnerable member of high society transformed into an incredible rarity: the female CEO of one of the country's leading newspapers. Mrs.

Meryl Streep has revealed the difficulty she encounters in remembering all of her Oscar nominations.

In the 1980s, Graham even visited Fargo, where Marcil hosted a board meeting for publishers from around the country. Those men are represented by a Who's Who of character actors, including Tracy Letts, Bradley Whitford, Michael Stuhlbarg and David Cross. Hanks' Bradlee sums it up nicely: President Nixon is "taking a shit all over the First Amendment".

Ellsberg leaks the documents to the Times, which publishes stories until a federal judge issues an injunction that forces them to stop, setting the stage for the Post to pick up the story. It's vital that the rest of America learns them, and quickly.
