Nokia 3310 4G quietly launched in China, expected to go global in March

The Nokia 3310 4G, which was earlier expected to be unveiled at MWC, was launched in China today (January 30). The company first released a basic 2G version that really could only do calls and text, then came a 3G model (that included support for United States networks), and now, per earlier rumors, it's finally getting a proper LTE variant, via Pocket Lint. The new variant is listed on the company's official website with no information regarding the availability and pricing.

After weeks of rumours and leaks, the 4G variant of the refreshed Nokia 3310 has finally launched in China.

It comes just weeks after Hawaii was thrown into chaos when a missile alert was mistakenly issued across the islands. A spokesperson at the Defense Department told International Business Times they had no comment on the matter.

With MWC 2018 approaching, it is expected that HMD Global will globally launch the device at the event.

However, for developers and players who don't mind modern microtransactions, Microsoft's acquisition of PlayFab could be a huge boon.

The phone also comes with a MP3 player. But now, after nearly three whole months, HMD Global unveils the Nokia 3310 4G powered by YunOS. Based on projections, 4G looks to take a heavy toll on the 3310, bringing the lifespan down to about five hours of talk time compared to the 2G version's 15-hour target.

The operating system of the device, YunOS, is developed by Alibaba during their Android Open Source Project (AOSP). On photography front, it offers a 2MP rear camera with an LED flash. There's no info on the processor used by HMD to power the phone, but it might be a dual-core processor. The company has now launched a 4G LTE compatible variant of the Nokia 3310. Given that Android is optimized for touch screen devices, you will not be able to download and install APK files on the Nokia 4G feature phone. Wi-Fi Hotspot Nokia 3310 4G comes with VoLTE support and users can also use it as a Wi-Fi hotspot. Also, for launching this feature phone in India, HMD might join hands with Reliance Jio and launch it with attractive 4G offers.
