Unmarked Israeli warplanes and helicopters have carried out dozens of covert attacks against the Islamic State and other terrorist groups inside the Egyptian Sinai, The New York Times reported citing two former senior USA officials.

Netanyahu did not address the New York Times report published on Saturday, commenting only generally on Israel's stance. Egypt's military has issued a statement denying the story in its entirety.

Israel has reportedly been conducting a years-long campaign of airstrikes in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula with Cairo's blessing.

Samsung's Lee Jae-yong released from prison
Prosecutors demanded a sentence of 12 years while lawyers for the Samsung boss said he was a victim of extortion by Park. Lee's case brought down the government of former President Park Geun-Hye, and he has been in jail for almost a year.

In Israel, military censors restrict public reports of the air strikes. Netanyahu reportedly scoffed at the idea, reminding Kerry that the IDF was already buttressing Egypt's military. The Israel-Egypt collaboration "is the most dramatic evidence yet of a quiet reconfiguration of the politics of the region", The NY Times said, pointing out certain regional Arab countries' gravitation towards Israel over the recent years.

The Israeli aircraft are said to be unmarked and flying on routes that disguise the fact that they have come from Israel to keep the operation covert.

American officials, the newspaper said, believe the collaboration helped the Egyptian military gain the upper hand in its almost five-year battle with the militants.

IS-linked militants have waged a deadly insurgency in the Sinai against Egyptian security forces, and Israeli officials have watched the violence with concern.

Pique saves Barcelona from defeat
Barca coach Ernesto Valverde agreed that a point was a decent result given the state of the pitch by the end of the game. Both teams made a tentative start to the match, and they were not helped by the extremely wet conditions.

Inside the American government, The New York Times said, the Israeli strikes are "widely known enough that diplomats and intelligence officials have discussed them in closed briefings with lawmakers on Capitol Hill".
