Patriots bench cornerback Malcolm Butler, hero in past Super Bowl

Super Bowl 52 Patriots' Malcolm Butler has no explanation for benching

Super Bowl 52 Patriots' Malcolm Butler has no explanation for benching

"I mean, we could never make a play to give the ball back out our offence".

Former New England Patriots cornerback Brandon Browner criticized Bill Belichick on social media for his decision to bench Malcolm Butler in Super Bowl LII.

"I appreciate the question, but it would be a much longer discussion", Belichick explained.

Belichick of course probably has his reasons for benching Butler, but really, what the hell could the cornerback could have done? "In the end, the final decision is what I said it was", Belichick replied on Monday.

Butler played 97.8 percent of the defensive snaps in the regular season. "It is what it is", Butler said, per ESPN's Mike Reiss.

Cooks out of Super Bowl after devastating hit from Jenkins
According to Patriots beat writer for the Providence Journal , Mark Daniels, Cooks was "rushed straight to the locker room". It's also the second time in as many games that New England has lost a top pass catcher with a head injury.

"I respect Malcolm's competitiveness, and I'm sure he felt he could've helped". I know players that they used to let [their] wives sleep in the bed with them on away games.

'Obviously we didn't do a good enough job coaching, missed a lot of opportunities offensively in the first half, didn't play good enough defense, didn't play good enough in the kicking game, ' said the coach, who suffered his third loss in the Super Bowl.

You would have thought the Patriots' defense could have used the Super Bowl hero from three years ago who played almost every snap this season. Solder was drafted by the Patriots in the first round of the 2011 draft out of the University of Colorado, and the 29-year-old started every game for New England this season. The Patriots started Eric Rowe and Stephon Gilmore at corner. In time, we might get it all.

"I made the decisions that give us the best chance to win", Belichick said at halftime.

Either Butler's benching was justified by some frightful behavior or secret injury, in which case the Patriots would be wise to reveal their reasoning, or Belichick's decision was rash and inexplicable, in which case there must be someone angry enough to tell the world what happened. So why didn't the rising star hit the field one time for Super Bowl 52?

N.Korea gets nuclear, missile parts in Berlin
In 2017, North Korea tested what they claimed to be a hydrogen bomb, with yield estimates ranging from 50 to 280 kilotons. Last year, North Korea carried out a number of long-range ballistic missile tests.

"Why does everyone want me to retire so bad?" he said. "But u don't play your best cornerback".

Butler was the team's Super Bowl hero three years ago for his game-clinching interception against the Seattle Seahawks.

Butler, though, was in no mood after the game to speculate about what might come next for him.

They took full advantage of it by dicing up a Butler-less secondary in a shootout that broke the Super Bowl record for yardage with 1,151.

Butler is an unrestricted free agent.
