Wong, Law and Chow became the public face of the protests, which called for fully democratic elections for Hong Kong's leadership. The government refused to back down, and the protests ended after 79 days. The move was broadly seen as an attempt to sideline the popular young pro-democratic figures and intimidate other activists. The disqualifications killed the pro-democracy lawmakers' veto powers in the legislative council.

He was granted bail in that case as well as he pursues an appeal.
