A highly anticipated House Intelligence Committee interview with Stephen Bannon has been postponed until next week, the committee said on Tuesday, as negotiations continue over the terms of his appearance.

Steve Bannon, the former White House chief strategist, will not appear Tuesday before the House Intelligence Committee, bucking a subpoena for his testimony and setting the stage for a showdown as the panel probes Russian interference in US elections, Fox News has learned.

"This is unacceptable, and the Committee remains united on this matter - the Committee's subpoena remains in effect and his interview has been rescheduled for next week".

Bannon reportedly refused to answer questions this week because he says White House attorneys and the Intelligence Committee have not yet reached an agreement on the scope of the panel's questioning, CNN reported.

Schiff said this "ban" on Bannon's testimony covered issues between Trump's election and inauguration, his time at the White House and communications with Trump since, even though Trump has not invoked executive privilege.
