Toronto police say the remains of six people have been recovered as part of the ongoing Bruce McArthur murder investigation.

McArthur is now facing five counts of first-degree murder. The charges are related to the deaths of Selim Esen, 44, Andrew Kinsman, 49, Majeed Kayhan, 58, Soroush Mahmudi, 50, and Dean Lisowick, either 43 or 44.

Though police have not identified all the body parts, they've positively identified one of of the victims as Andrew Kinsman, one of the missing men who disappeared from Toronto's Gay Village past year.

"(The investigation) is getting bigger and we have more resources the further we go along, so it's going to be a very extensive investigation", said Idsinga.

McArthur, 66, was arrested on January 18 amid continuing concerns from members of the Church and Wellesley community who believed that someone was preying on men with ties to the neighbourhood. "I don't have a timetable for that, I don't have a number for that, but I would expect more charges will eventually be laid".

In addition to working to identify the five sets of remains found so far in planters on Mallory Crescent, police are set to begin excavating the yard.

Investigators are also pouring over "literally hundreds" of missing persons reports and conducting an extensive digital investigation, Idsinga said. Toronto Police urge anyone who hired McArthur to contact them.
