The Disneyland Resorts Sunday raised tickets prices at Walt Disney World in Orlando and at Disneyland in California for most admissions, with annual pass hiking as much as 18 percent.

Now, "value" day tickets for the Magic Kingdom will increase $2, raising the price to $109 for adults and $103 for kids, beginning Sunday, according the Associated Press.

Walt Disney said on Sunday it was changing the admission price for its U.S. theme parks, raising the cost of some single-day tickets by nearly 9 per cent.

At Epcot, Hollywood Studios, and Animal Kingdom, one-day "value" tickets will go up by $2, which will now cost $102 for adults and $96 for children.

A one-day adult ticket for Disneyland or California Adventure is $99 for the low-demand days, such as weekdays in May. At California's Disneyland Resort, one-day admission during peak season increased by $11, or about 8.9 percent, to $135.

Annual pass prices at California's Disneyland are going up by as much as almost 18 percent, as Disney looks to better balance its crowd levels throughout the year. All of the increases are reflected on the parks' websites. Managers of the company have been struggling for years to balance their desire to keep the parks full against the reality that they are crowded on a daily basis.

"Attendance at our domestic parks was up 6% in the quarter", said Christine M. McCarthy, chief financial officer of The Walt Disney Co. on the company's Q1 earnings call Feb.6, noting that "operating income was up 18%" over the prior year for its US operations.

Company officials say this program will evolve in 2018 to address the fluctuating guest patterns.
