British charity Oxfam on Wednesday said more than 1,200 people had discontinued their regular donations to the organisation while allegations of a sexual misconduct scandal surfaced.

Oxfam, a United Kingdom -based charity, is reeling from reports that emergency aid teams paid for sex while serving in Chad and Haiti-and that top officials have long known about the allegations.

British actress Minnie Driver has cut ties with Oxfam after 20 years of support.

She said that one of the allegations involved an adult and child volunteer in the United Kingdom, adding: "That troubled me because I knew that Oxfam was not conducting the criminal record checks that it needed to conduct".

The Canadian government will not pull any funding from Oxfam Canada and Oxfam Quebec after a sexual misconduct scandal shook the worldwide charity's British affiliate.

Manhattan Bomber Sentenced to Life in Prison
Ahmad Khan Rahimi injured 30 people when one of his pressure cooker bombs exploded in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood in 2016. Federal prosecutors say he has not shown remorse and has tried to radicalize fellow inmates.

"Oxfam made a full and unqualified apology - to me, and to the people of Britain and Haiti - for the appalling behaviour of some of their staff in Haiti in 2011, and for the wider failings of their organisation's response to it", Mordaunt said after meeting Oxfam's chief executive, Mark Goldring.

The Good Will Hunting star said she was "horrified" by allegations that some Oxfam staff had sex with prostitutes in crisis-hit Chad and Haiti.

"We remain very concerned that many incidents are not reported and know that our mechanisms need to be improved", a MSF spokesman told the Thomson Reuters Foundation in an email.

Oxfam said that they were "grateful" for the actress and her devotion to the charity in the last few years.

Other major donors including Visa, Heathrow, the Co-op Bank and the Innocent drinks company are also seeking urgent reassurances from Oxfam after the revelations in The Times that aid workers sexually exploited women in Haiti.

South Africa wins toss and bowls against India in 5th ODI
The cricket fans in India will be able to watch the live action of India vs South Africa fifth ODI match on Sony Ten Network. However, Morne Morkel has been the key man for Proteas so far, having got two maidens and conceding just four runs.

Jane Salmondson, chief executive of Scotland's International Development Alliance, said that while recognising that recruitment in disaster settings is particularly hard to conduct, she welcomed action being taken by humanitarian agencies to improve vetting procedures.

The comments follow claims that some of Oxfam's aid workers used prostitutes in Haiti following the 2010 natural disaster.

Documents provided by Oxfam have led to further questions and suggest that the charity might not have "fully and frankly disclosed material details about the allegations at the time", the Charity Commission said.

No wonder. According to Oxfam GB's former deputy chief executive Penny Lawrence, the allegations of sexual misconduct were first raised about the Oxfam staff in an earlier mission in Chad. "We also, in a number of countries, support partner organisations that work with sex workers to ensure their basic rights; so we are definitely not in any position to tell sex workers how to live their lives". "I found this abuse has been occurring across the aid sector for over 20 years and that many senior people in aid simply dismiss this issue with a three-letter acronym - SEA [Sexual Exploitation and Abuse]".

Edmond said that Oxfam representatives in Haiti would be summoned by the Foreign Ministry.
