As a result of the pact, the CDU will occupy the ministries of Economy and Energy, Education and Investigation; Agriculture and Food; Defense and Health.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel will meet Turkish Prime Minister Ben Ali Yildirim in Berlin on Thursday.

Mrs Merkel faces growing internal dissent over her decision to give the post of finance minister to Olaf Scholz, a Social Democrat (SPD), during hard coalition talks last week.

Tombe said B.C. does not have a legal leg to stand on, in its authority to restrict oil from Alberta. Notley later announced a province-wide ban on B.C. wine imports, effective immediately.

The coalition deal has yet to be approved by the SPD's approximately 460,000 members, whose verdict will be announced on 4 March. The SPD's maneuvering is aimed at taming a crisis that threatens to torpedo a return to government and extend Germany's longest party impasse since World War II. Schulz on Wednesday renounced the party leadership to snatch the foreign minister's post from Gabriel, then, after an outcry, gave up the top diplomat's post too. They said they would now focus on pushing for passage of the coalition agreement.

The new agreement between the two parties has seen the CDU give the SPD three prestigious ministerial posts of finance, foreign affairs and labour.
